You can permanently delete your Financio account and all the data associated with it at any time, from within the app. This page explains exactly what gets removed so there are no surprises.
This Cannot Be Undone
Account deletion is permanent and immediate. There is no grace period and no way to recover the data afterwards. If you might want your data later, export it first.
Before You Delete
Consider these steps first:
- Export your data. Go to Settings → Export Data and download your transactions. See Exporting Your Data.
- Download any reports you want to keep. See Exporting Reports.
- If you own a household, warn the other members. Deleting your account deletes the household for everyone in it (see below).
- If you only want to leave a shared household, don't delete your account. Leave the household instead; your own data stays intact.
- If you subscribed through the App Store, cancel your subscription first. Deleting your account does not cancel it, and Apple will keep charging you. See Your Subscription below, and Cancelling Your Subscription.
How to Delete Your Account
- Go to Settings (gear icon, top right).
- In the sidebar, click Delete Account.
- Read the warning panel, then click Delete My Account.
- In the "Delete your account?" dialog, click Delete My Account again to confirm, or Cancel to stop.
- On the Home tab, tap the gear icon in the top left.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete Account (below Sign Out).
- Read the warning, then tap Delete My Account.
- In the confirmation alert, tap Delete to confirm, or Cancel to stop.
Once confirmed, your data is deleted, you're signed out immediately, and you're returned to the login screen.
What Gets Deleted
Households You Own
If you are the Owner of a household, that entire household is torn down, not just your access to it. This removes:
- All accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and assets
- Every transaction, transfer, and split
- Categories and tags
- Automation rules
- Goals
- Recurring transactions
- Saved reports
- Asset valuations, holdings, and balance history
- All memberships and pending invitations, including those of other members
Other Members Lose Access Too
Other people you've shared a household with lose access to that household's data when you delete your account. Their own Financio logins survive, but the shared data is gone.
Ownership of a household cannot be transferred to another member. If you want the household to continue without you, have another member export the data and set it up under their own account before you delete yours. See Managing Members.
Households You Belong To But Don't Own
If you're a Member or Read Only user in someone else's household, deleting your account removes only your membership. The household and all of its data stay intact for the owner and the remaining members.
Your Login
Your sign-in credentials are deleted along with your profile, including any two-factor authentication setup. Invitations you sent to other people are withdrawn.
Your Subscription
What happens to your subscription depends on where you bought it. Financio can only cancel the subscriptions it controls.
Subscribed on the web (card payment). Your subscription is cancelled immediately as part of the deletion, and you won't be charged again. The remaining days in the month you've already paid for are not refunded: you're deleting the account, so there's nothing left to use them on.
Subscribed through the App Store. Deleting your account here does not cancel that subscription. Only you can cancel it, from your Apple device or Apple ID settings: Financio has no way to do it for you, and Apple will keep charging you every month until you do.
To cancel: on your iPhone or iPad open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Financio → Cancel Subscription, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions in a browser.
Subscribed through the App Store. Deleting your account does not cancel that subscription. Only you can cancel it: Financio has no way to do it for you, and Apple will keep charging you every month until you do. The Delete Account screen shows a Manage Subscription button that takes you straight there; you can also open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Financio → Cancel Subscription on your device.

If you were still on your free trial, there's nothing to cancel, a trial doesn't bill and simply disappears with the account. See Cancelling Your Subscription for the full cancellation steps on each platform.
App Store Subscriptions Outlive Your Account
Cancelling an App Store subscription is separate from deleting your account, and the order matters. If you delete first, we can no longer see your subscription at all: you'll need to cancel it yourself in Apple ID settings, and any charges taken in the meantime are handled by Apple, not Financio.
If Deletion Fails
If something goes wrong, Financio tells you it couldn't delete your account and nothing is deleted; your account is left exactly as it was. Try again, and contact support if the problem continues.
