Two-Factor Authentication

Add an extra layer of security to your account with 2FA

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, you'll need to enter a verification code in addition to your password when signing in.

Accessing 2FA Settings

  1. Click the settings (gear) icon in the top right corner.

  2. In the Settings sidebar, click Security.

  3. Locate the Two Factor Authentication section.

  1. On the Home tab, tap the gear icon in the top left to open Settings.

  2. Tap Security.

  3. Tap Two-Factor Authentication.

Available 2FA Methods

None

No additional verification required. Only your password is needed to sign in.

Email

A verification code will be sent to your registered email address each time you log in.

Authenticator App (Recommended)

Use an authenticator app on your phone to generate time-based verification codes. This is the most secure option.

Setting Up 2FA

  1. Select your preferred authentication method.

  2. Click Update Authentication Settings.

  3. Enter your password to confirm the change.

Authenticator App Setup Is iPhone-Only For Now

Authenticator app setup isn't available in the web app yet, choosing it shows a "currently under development" notice and your method stays as it was. Set up an authenticator in the Financio iPhone app; once enabled, the code prompt works when signing in on the web.

  1. Select your preferred authentication method.

  2. Tap Save Changes.

  3. Enter your password to confirm the change.

  4. If you selected Authenticator App, scan the QR code with your authenticator app (or copy the key shown under "Or enter this key manually"), enter the 6-digit code, and tap Verify & Enable.

Keep Access to Your Authenticator

Financio displays a set of codes when you enable authenticator 2FA, but they cannot currently be used to sign in. If you lose access to your authenticator app, contact support to have two-factor authentication reset on your account.

Disabling 2FA

  1. Select None from the authentication options.

  2. Click Update Authentication Settings.

  3. Enter your password to confirm.

Troubleshooting

Lost access to authenticator app

Contact support to have 2FA reset on your account, then set up a new authenticator or choose a different method.

Not receiving email codes

Check your spam/junk folder. Add noreply@financio.au to your contacts to ensure delivery.
