Subscribing to Financio

How to subscribe on the web or in the iPhone app, and which one to choose

You can subscribe from either the web app or the iPhone app. Both give you the same A$12 per month subscription covering your whole household, the only difference is who takes the payment and where you manage it afterwards.

Owners Only

Only the household Owner can subscribe. If you're a Member or Read Only user, the subscribe button won't appear; ask the owner to subscribe and your access comes back with theirs.

Subscribing on the Web

  1. Go to Settings (gear icon, top right) → Subscription.
  2. Under Subscribe, check the price, then click Subscribe.
  3. You're taken to Stripe's secure checkout page. Enter your card details and confirm.
  4. You're returned to Financio and your subscription is active straight away.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Financio never sees or stores your card details.

Open Financio in a browser, sign in, and go to SettingsSubscriptionSubscribe. Payment is taken by Stripe on your card, and Financio never sees your card details.

Subscribing in the iPhone App

  1. On the Home tab, tap the gear icon in the top left to open Settings.
  2. Tap Subscription.
  3. Check the price, then tap Subscribe.
  4. Confirm the purchase with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.

The purchase goes through the App Store, so it appears on your Apple ID and is billed by Apple, not by us.

If you've subscribed before on the same Apple ID: after reinstalling the app, for example, tap Restore Purchases instead of subscribing again.

In the Financio iPhone app, open Settings (gear icon, top left of the Home tab) → SubscriptionSubscribe, and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password. The purchase is billed by Apple through your Apple ID rather than by us.

Which Should You Choose?

Either is fine, and the app works identically. Some things worth knowing:

Cancelling an App Store Subscription Is Different

An App Store subscription can only be cancelled through Apple: not from inside Financio, and not by deleting your Financio account. If that matters to you, subscribing on the web keeps cancellation in one place. See Cancelling Your Subscription.

One Household, One Subscription

A household bills through one provider at a time. Once you've subscribed on the web, the iPhone app shows the subscription as Managed on the web and hides its subscribe button; once you've subscribed through the App Store, the web shows it as Managed on your iPhone and turns read-only. This is deliberate. It stops you accidentally paying twice for the same household.

If you do end up buying an App Store subscription while a web one is running, we stop the web subscription renewing so you're never charged by both. You keep the time you've already paid for.

After You Subscribe

Access is restored immediately, with all your existing data intact. Your renewal date appears on the Subscription screen, and the subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
