Tracking Progress & Archiving

Read the goal detail page: pace, projections, monthly breakdown, and archive finished goals

Every goal has a detail page. Select any goal card (on the Goals page or the Home dashboard) to open it.

The stat tiles

The tiles adapt to the kind of goal:

  • Limits: Spent, Remaining, Safe Pace (the monthly spend that lands exactly at the limit) and Projected Finish (where your current rate actually lands, with how far under or over).
  • Targets with a date: progress so far, the target, Needs / Month versus what you're currently averaging, and the projection.
  • Open-ended targets: progress, target, your monthly average, and roughly how long to go at that pace.
  • Balance goals: current balance, how much you've paid or saved from the baseline, and the needs-per-month figure.

The tiles adapt to the kind of goal (three per goal on iPhone):

  • Limits: Spent, Safe Pace and Projected (with how far under or over the cap you'll land).
  • Targets with a date: Progress, Needs per month versus what you're averaging, and the Projected finish.
  • Open-ended targets: Progress, Averaging, and Time To Go at that pace.
  • Balance goals: Current balance (with how much you've paid or saved from the baseline), Needs per month, and Progress.

The progress chart

The chart plots three lines:

  • Solid. Your real cumulative spend (or account balance)
  • Dashed grey, the safe pace: the straight line from start to target
  • Dashed green: the projection: your current rate extended to the end date (open-ended targets have no end date, so they show the flat target line instead of a projection)

For limits, the cap itself appears as a horizontal line. One glance answers the real question: does the projection land above or below where it should?

Monthly breakdown and recent transactions

Category and tag goals also show a monthly breakdown: each month's amount as a bar against the safe monthly pace, with the current month shown month-to-date, and the recent transactions feeding the goal, so a surprising number is one look away from its cause.

Category and tag goals also show a monthly breakdown: each month's amount as a bar, with the current month lighter because it's still month-to-date (press and hold a bar to see its exact amount), and the recent transactions feeding the goal, so a surprising number is one look away from its cause.

Progress updates itself

Goals recalculate automatically whenever transactions are added, edited, deleted or imported, and balance goals follow the account balance directly. There's no refresh to remember. Statuses reflect today's truth: On Track, Behind Pace, Achieved, Exceeded (limits) or Missed (dated targets past their date).

On iPhone you can also long-press a goal card and choose Recalculate Progress.

Behind Pace isn't a scolding: it's the earliest useful moment to act, while the fix is still a small one.

Archiving finished goals

When a goal is Achieved (or a limit's window has closed), archive it to keep your list focused:

  • On the goal's page, choose Archive.
  • Archived goals move into the Archived goals (N) section at the bottom of the Goals page, keeping their full history and result. Select it to expand.
  • Changed your mind? Unarchive restores it to the list.

On iPhone, tap in the top right of the goal's page and choose Archive (Unarchive to bring it back).

Archiving is reversible; deleting is not. A finished goal is a record of something you did, archive it and let it stay won.
